Another completely original guest-star tune from the 'reclusive' 4T Thieves, stuck out on an island off the South Coast of England making some of the weirdest, most exhileratingly alien MODs I've heard in quite a while. Hear the depth, won't you? Stuck out in the moons of Venus, diving into the seas beneath Saturn, or just chillin' out in your bedroom, Mono takes you out there. Out _there_ :)

In time for another guest-artist spot-ahhh (The Fall!), we have 4T Thieves. He's previously been resident in England, Finland, and now England again, and was formerly an Alcatraz member. You could say he's a pretty oldskool mofo, having written travel diaries in Anarchy's "Stolen Data" mag way back when and done a number of cool Jarre mix-ups a while back. :) Anyhow, the electronic ambience of this beatless track is a nice tonic to all the hihats and snares that have been appearing in...

Our rather dangerous man in Germany, the most blunted Ramone, returns with an intoxicated remix, and isn't it wicked? Wicked in the hellish sense, of course. Check out the original from the Mono archives, way back, and find out how much it's changed. Which is a lot. We're sorry, are we boring you? :) Great tune tho. :)

Another of our infrequent but still cute guest-releases, this one from the rather sassy Norwegian, Archangel. This is a special version of one of the tracks from his TRSI Records CD, "Angel Dust", and we're most pleased to have it. :) Btw, there are some other Mono links to TRSI Records - Substance and Mortimer Twang have both had tracks featured on their "Cyberlogik" series of CDs (although we reckon they didn't actually bother to ask Mortimer's permission before featuring...

A personal favourite artist of several Mono members, a welcome guest release from Astradyne, often seen gooning around on the Noise label. Seems sensible enough, but is deceptively dangerous. Dive beneath the surface and feel the funk flow like shoals of fish around your soul.

Zooooom. Time for Mono to get funky, we feel, and who better to do it for us than Azze of The Black Lotus? It may make your head nod unashamedly, and it may sound just a little bit like Lizardking, but it sure as hell rawks. Yeah, rawks. Definitely a contender for catchiest Mono tune so far. Thanks Azze, we owe ya several. :)

Aha, the first release from Bay Tremore now he's a member of mono211, and there's some excellent shenanigans from his corner of the globe, in the form of "Twisted". Just say yes to weird sampled vocals and trippy drums, won't you? :) Btw, Bt's evil cousin may or may not have been responsible for a couple of the recently rockin' no'mo releases.. as always, they're limited edition, unlimited sedition, so if you don't have them now, start looking ;)

A new guest release, this time from the rather attractively named Bay Tremore, and it's a really funky headnodder, blunted stylee. This track was introduced to us by Zyad, who's done quite a funky remix of it - this may come out on fsb sometime soon if we're all lucky :) Thanks to Mr.Tremore for letting us put out his most excellent tune, and remember, kidz, innovate, don't imitate (that's enough with the surreal song descriptions, you know who you are!)

Thank you for the music, said Abba. We say similar to Bay Tremore for this eminently bouncy track that assaults your eardrums at somewhere between hiphop, d+b, bigbeat, and heaven only knows what else. Sorta like Fatboy Slim if he came from Finland and listened to more Hardfloor than surf tunes. Now that www.mono211.com is up and everything is hunky dory, we're getting back on track again - musical whizkids, eh, Tzant? :)

More of the pretty unique Bay Tremore junglistics, and this one is bordering on the gorgeous - full of little turns and cut-ups and organ stabs and drums on drums, and for four channels too, it's maddeningly good. It's tricky. In some danger of becoming the Penn and Teller of the underground scene - now you see him, now you don't? With the undercurrents of the macabre but the straightahead gobsmacking in there too, it's a valid comparison, but, let's face it, Bay Tremore just ain't that.. sick. So we have a wicked black n white thang from Blandest/Acid, featuring all sorts of very nice superimposed subtlty, and an excellent rendered (?) logo from Diesel8 (ex.Razor1911) :) Oki, so what you do to get a lovely Mono backdrop on your PC is as follows: 1. Load the logo into any paint program or Netscape/Internet Explorer. 2. Save it out into your Windows directory as a BMP :)...

Finally sorted, a debut guest-release from Bogdan. Although we may have mentioned something about him before, all you need to know is that his email address is karl@cse.unl.edu, and he's previously been very sceptical about releasing through groups. This is certainly original - perhaps closest to the spirit of Squarepusher and Aphex Twin in their most junglistic modes. But different. As they say, nice.

Here we go again with one of the strangest Mono releases so far, but still a _very_ nice one. Carebear's got some strange ideas in that twisted little head of his, anyhow. :) This tune is actually quite choppy in a weird way, but it's flowing too. And lots of nice percussion always makes me feel better after a long day at the office. See, we _do_ come up with something different to the normal trance/jungle output we seem to put out.

Our Antipodean friend returns with this most excellent, super-mellow track from the end of last year. Watch it fly and swoop unobtrusively. :) I guess Chuck tends more towards the conventional than a lot of our members (I've heard him complaining that he can't get to do some of the more far-out jungle/triphop stuff we make because he just can't get the samples!), but his conventionality doesn't hide his musicality. This time Darkhalo steps in to show us what an interesting reading the Americans are taking on the whole d+b thing, encompassing Californian breakbeat, acid b-lines, and even some Transeau shaken up in there - just the right side of catchy, we fear, and fully compatible with the breaks and beats that m211 insists on releasing in such a hipflask lackadaisical fashion..

But we still intend to get a Mono and RR co-operation going sometime in the future, so watch out for that one... and in the meantime, enjoy this wikked track.

We be back, and it's a long-awaited guest release from linus/phd. One of mono's favourite artists, linus has gone ahead and donated us a couple of wicked new tracks. We're also re-releasing one of his very best releases on phase distortion ("stoopid interlude"). The reason we're doing this is firstly because we adore the tune, and secondly because we think there's a lot of people who listen to mono who haven't got round to listening to phd yet - so we're giving it a different (wider?)...

first release of 1999, and first release in almost a month from us, too. we've been caught up in the webpage being down and the xmas festivities and the kicking and the biting. still, everything back to 'normal' now, with some fine new ramone ascii and this wicked new linus ep. it's been a long time, but it's been worth the wait.. the blunted boy wonder comes up with some truly organic beats... the clock on the wall silently ticks.. and we hit the repeat button. again. chill out.

Mmm. For Linus' first release as a member of mono211, he breaks out the originality potion for a tribute to most excellent film director and composer, John Carpenter. Famous in the 70s for pictures such as "Escape From New York", "The Thing", and "Assault on Precinct 13", many people think Carpenter was one of the fathers of modern electronic music, with his sparse electronic scores for his movies. And Linus has crafted a rather crafty tribute to the man. Nope,...

The return of the Mack, wouldn't you know it, and it's with a brand-new composed jungle track. Mortimer reckons b-boy science is the way to go, but the drum n' bass still puts us in our place, huh? Please note that this is numero duo in the 'mono-back-on-track' series. And watch out for more Mortimer Twang stuff on Mono soon. If you would.

Well, here's a phenomenal guest-star blaster from Mortimer Twang, and there's a long and complicated story behind this one. :) Basically, Mr. Twang sent me a letter after I sent him a letter after he sent Dreamfish a letter after he heard some of our releases after I used his cool IFF2ASCII in the Mono releases after God made the Earth, but Mortimer's package to me got mangled and the letter got lost out of it in the post, and I wasn't really sure what the hell was going on, but I hope it's ok...

Wu-Twanging it into '96, Mortimer Tee shows us how that funky drummer thing is done. Again. What's nice about Mortimer's tunes is that they're original, stylistically. Some cool dub influences, skirting the hiphop/jungle border skilfully, looping and skipping his way to a blunted existence, that's our Mr. Tee. Wonder if he sprung Face from the mental hospital to help him with this effort? :)

Mortimer Tee returns to play with himself - and in public, too. ;) Yup, this excellent remix EP sees him revisiting and remixing a couple of his classy tunes from a while back. And there's going to be more original Mortimer tracks coming up soon. In the meantime, enjoy..

Licensed from our friends at Black Sista (thanks as ever to Ohgosh!), here's another wonderful Mortimer track that probably never reached as many people as it should have. This one especially rules because, just like The Wiseguys' "Ooh La La", it's just so much damn _fun_. We're hoping the Twangster's gonna come back with some more new tracks for bs!+m211 soon, but in the meantime, this'll have to do. And boy, it does pretty well. Altogether now..

Well, here's the sister piece to the rather wicked "Streetbeat", and whereas that tune was a freestyle jam, this one's a straight-forward example of Mortimer Tee chopping things up like only he can. :) Please note that this tune has been licensed from the Black Sista Allstarz, who are officially(tm) kicking it in 96. :P And watch out for more static+reverb-soaked Wu-Twang Clan ramblings in the near future.. murderah!

Well, straight out of the vaults of the wondrousness that is Black Sista, the first in a number of classic releases for Mortimer Tee tracks. Remember to catch the BS! kidz at http://www.publishnet.nl/~orlingo, And remember, composing jazzy funky hiphop stuff like Mortimer does _is_ big. and clever. ;) Watch out for new material from him on both Black Sista and Mono211, pretty darn soon. Can you wait? [btw, some people might doubletake, since these Mortimer tracks are allegedly 'already...

back once again it's the renegade master.. oops, sorry, we're off into our fatboy slim remix mode for a second.. we said, brimful of asha on the for-tee fiiive. ohno, there we go again. actually, what we're trying to spit out is that mono211 hath returned with another mortimer special. the very strange "under" is dedicated to master of sonic terrorism vim!, and the excellent bonus track, a remix of mortimer's earlier m211 release, "mood", appeared some days after the...

Wow. I hate being accused of over-hyping Mono, but this track just rules. I've been listening to almost constantly ever since Mortimer Tee mailed it to me about 3 or 4 weeks ago, and I'm delighted I finally got a chance to release it. What's the step above that Mortimer takes? I'm not really sure, but his tunes have so much soul, and that's all too often missing in MODs. And yet, it's got the moves too - listen to that drum-break strut and spin. *sigh*. Anyhow, enough hype. Just enjoy.

Figured it was about time everyone heard sumting new from one of the smartest Mono members, so it's time for a new EP from the King of Twang, Mr. Tee himself. So we got a wikkid styled jungle in suitably mangled style, and we even got a handsindaair house cut in a style we don't really hear people doing on the computer. Do we? Anyhow, we rather suspect that this one rules, so chill out and listen.

Whoa. We start 1998 with a great doubleheader, showcasing exclusive extended versions of the two tunes from the winning Scoopex+Haujobb Amiga demo at The Party 7 in Denmark. This particular gem, a bigbeat treat from Muffler that we felt fitted best on da Mono label, is here with you now. But there's also the other track, abstract techno in a FSOL-sorta-stylee from Jazz+Fndr, out now on Monotonik, - so check 'em both out if you know what you're about. :)

An excellent track in a guest stylee from smart tdr affiliate meester Paniq, showing that the jungle scene and The Prodigy can have a little soundclash and come off none the worse for wear. Just jiggle the head and swing the hips and you'll get by just fine. Btw, we really recommend using the latest version of MikIt to listen to this track, because it uses resonant filter stuff and things which are only in da new version.. you can get it (v1.0 beta 2!) at:...

This one has been waiting in the wings for a very long time - apologies to Prob and Ebb for delaying it. But finally a release for the superlative "Stylez EP" by one of mono211's foremost Finns and his studio partner, Ebb. There's actually very little that can be said about this apart from the fact that damn, it's a classy hiphopjam, and the bonustrack is original and smartstyled too. Oh, please note that real scratching and real sativa extract was used in the making of this track,...

More rewording and reordering as Substance takes elements from two previous releases (Tek's mp3 "Benedict" and Prob+Ebb's "Stylez") and merges and melds to come up with this mellifluous hybrid. It's fun to play with sounds, isn't it? Watch out for a simultaneous/near-simultaneous Malik remix of "Stylez" on Theralite (http://pigforce.warande.net/theralite), incidentally.. mmm, synchronicity can be so constructive, hm?

Prob. returns, this time on Mono211, with a track originally left off his debut Monotonik release because it was a little more Mono211-inclined. So we waited, and watched.. and put it out on Mono211. This is both tempestuous and practically horizontal at the same time, and sorta fun with it. Oh, congratulations to Prob. for making 7th (as far as we remember!) in the Assembly'98 music competition at the end of July. We completely forgot to mention it before now.. but now we recall. Total recall...
